Neil Brooks
Pluralistic Counsellor & Psychotherapist
At Neil Brooks Psychotherapy, I believe that no single approach works for everyone. We are all unique, with different experiences, challenges, strengths, and goals. That’s why I tailor therapy to suit you as an individual rather than following a fixed method.
Drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques, we will work together to find what feels most helpful and meaningful for you. Our sessions will be collaborative, with your experiences, preferences, and goals helping to shape the direction of our work.
At the heart of my practice are empathy, compassion, acceptance, and genuine understanding. I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth, change, and healing, and I am here to support you on that journey.
I am currently unable to accept any new client appointments until mid-September.
However, please register early to ensure your place. Alternatively, message me using the contact form.
Areas of Specialization
Addiction Recovery, Bereavement Support, Stress Management, Anxiety Therapy & Life Challenges.
At Neil Brooks Psychotherapy, I understand that no two people are the same. We all experience life’s challenges in different ways, which is why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, struggling with a loss, facing relationship difficulties, or simply finding life hard at the moment, I offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be heard.
Together, we will explore what is happening in your life, make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and find ways to help you move forward. You don’t need to have all the answers or even know exactly what’s wrong. My role is to work alongside you, helping you gain greater understanding, confidence and clarity at a pace that feels right for you.
Free Consultation
I offer a free 15-minute phone or video consultation to give us both an opportunity to see whether we feel comfortable working together. Finding the right therapist is important, and this initial conversation allows you to ask any questions, briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, and get a sense of how I work. There is no obligation to continue afterwards—it’s simply a chance to decide whether I am the right fit for you and your needs.
Duration: 15 mins

Initial Appointment
Following the free consultation, the next step is an initial 60-minute assessment session, available in person, by video, or over the phone. This session costs £40 and gives us the opportunity to explore your situation in more depth, discuss what you would like to achieve from therapy, and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship.
The connection between client and therapist is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. This first session allows us to get to know one another, understand what has brought you to counselling, and agree on how we can work together in a way that feels safe, supportive and tailored to your needs.
Duration: 60 mins
Price: £40
Follow Up Session
Follow-up counselling sessions last 50 minutes and cost £35 per session. These sessions provide a regular, dedicated space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe, supportive and confidential environment.
As our work develops, we can explore the challenges you are facing, gain a deeper understanding of patterns that may be affecting your wellbeing, and identify ways to help you move towards your goals. The pace and focus of therapy will be guided by your needs, with regular opportunities to review your progress and ensure that our work remains helpful and meaningful.
The number of sessions varies from person to person and is something we will agree together. Some people find that a small number of sessions is enough, while others benefit from longer-term support.
